Why battery storage

Your energy. Your rules.

The same electricity. The same quality power. But a significant price difference based purely on timing. Battery storage gives you the advantage.

  • No solar panels needed

Charge overnight at off-peak rates as low as 6.5p per kWh, then power your home during expensive peak times. Battery storage works brilliantly on its own.

  • Maximise your solar

Already have solar panels? Stop exporting cheap surplus energy back to the grid. Store it and use it when you actually need it most.

  • Protection from rising costs

Energy prices have more than doubled in three years. Battery storage reduces how much grid electricity you buy at peak rates, insulating you from future rises.

  • A cleaner, greener home

Use stored energy rather than drawing from a carbon-heavy grid at peak hours. A meaningful step towards a lower-impact home without compromising on comfort.

Tim has been looking after our plumbing needs since he installed a new boiler a few years ago. We had a water leak from our mains water pipe on Wednesday. He responded to our call for help asap and has project managed the installation of new mains water piping as quickly as possible. The work was carried out without too much upheaval and it’s lovely to have running water again! In summary; we felt we were in safe hands, professional, courteous, efficient and everywhere was left neat and tidy. With thanks, Kate and Mike.

After loss of heating and hot water, we discovered our boiler was slowly leaking. We contacted RONAX Monday evening for help and they were on site by 11:30am the next day as agreed. Tim explained everything about the necessary repair and costs involved. He completed the repair the same day and left everything clean and tidy. He was really professional and polite throughout and we can’t thank him enough for his service. RONAX provide quotes and invoices promptly, via a secure payment link which was efficient too! Thank you Ronax!!

Fantastic service from Ronax. Our boiler packed up and we had no heating. Called Ronax and they attended next day, identified the problem, sorced the new part and got us up and running again. Work was all quoted before hand. Engineer was polite and tidy and kept us informed of what he was doing and why. I would definitely use this company again and will recommend to others.

I had a great experience with Ronax. It was easy to contact them on WhatsApp and they responded immediately and sent an engineer out on the same day. I was told by another engineer that I have to replace the boiler, but Tim from Ronax fixed the boiler during his visit. I cannot thank him enough for getting the hot water and heating sorted in this freezy weather.

Tim was great from the outset. Always came when he said he would and spent time diagnosing the correct problem. Also sent a text after a few days to check all was still well. Would definitely use again and recommend.

The Benefits of Battery Storage - FAQs

Battery Storage Installation FAQs

1. How much does battery storage cost in the UK?

Home battery storage systems typically cost between £4,000 and £9,000 depending on capacity. A 10kWh system (suitable for an average 3-4 bedroom home) costs around £6,000-£7,500 including installation. At Ronax, we provide transparent, no-obligation quotes with a detailed breakdown of costs and projected savings. We’ll assess your actual energy usage to recommend the right size system – not the most expensive one. Our free energy assessment includes a clear payback calculation so you can make an informed decision.

2. Can I add battery storage to my existing solar panels?

Yes, absolutely. Battery storage can be retrofitted to virtually any existing solar panel system, regardless of when it was installed or which brand you have. Ronax specialises in seamlessly integrating batteries with existing solar systems across the Midlands. We’ll assess your current setup, check inverter compatibility, and recommend the best battery solution that works with your existing equipment. Most retrofit installations are completed in just one day with minimal disruption.

3. Do I need solar panels to benefit from battery storage?

No, you don’t need solar panels.
Battery storage works brilliantly on its own by charging from the grid during cheap off-peak hours (as low as 6.5-9p per kWh) and powering your home during expensive peak times (25-30p per kWh). With time-of-use tariffs like Octopus Go or Intelligent Octopus, you can save £600-£900 per year without any solar panels. Ronax designs standalone battery systems specifically for tariff optimisation – it’s one of our most popular services for homeowners who can’t or don’t want solar panels.

4. How long do home batteries last?

Quality home batteries typically last 10–15 years with most manufacturers offering 10-year warranties. Battery lifespan is measured in charge cycles — premium batteries from Duracell Energy and Tesla offer 6,000–10,000 cycles, equating to daily charging for 15+ years. At Ronax, we only install proven, high-quality systems from approved manufacturers. Our 10-year workmanship guarantee means if anything goes wrong with our installation, we fix it.

5. What size battery do I need for my home?

Most 3-4 bedroom homes need a 9.5-13.5kWh battery to cover evening and morning energy use. A typical household uses 8-12kWh overnight, so a 10kWh battery provides excellent coverage. However, the right size depends on your specific usage patterns, whether you have solar panels, and your energy independence goals. Ronax provides a free energy assessment where we analyse your actual consumption data and recommend the optimal battery size for YOUR home – not a one-size-fits-all solution. We design systems tailored to your needs and budget.

6. How long does battery storage installation take?

Professional battery storage installation typically takes 1 day for most residential properties. You’ll have a working system by the evening. At Ronax, our expert installers arrive on time, work efficiently, and treat your home with respect. We handle everything: mounting the battery unit, electrical connections, inverter setup, smart meter integration, and system testing. Before we leave, we’ll walk you through how to use your system and set up the monitoring app. We don’t rush – we give every installation the time and care it deserves to get it right first time.

7. Is battery storage worth it without solar panels?

If you’re on a time-of-use tariff, you can save £600+ per year by buying electricity from as little as 6.9p per kWh overnight and avoiding the standard rate of 24.67p per kWh during the day. At Ronax, we’re honest – we’ll calculate whether battery storage makes financial sense for YOUR situation. If the numbers don’t work, we’ll tell you upfront rather than pushing an unnecessary sale. Our reputation is built on trust, not commissions.

8. What battery storage systems do you install?

We only install systems we genuinely trust – ones we know will perform reliably for years and improve over time through regular manufacturer software updates.

We are Duracell Energy Approved Installers and Tesla Energy Certified Installers, two of the most respected names in home battery storage. We will recommend the right system for your home, your usage and your budget – and whichever you choose, you can be confident you are getting a system, and an installation, built to last.
