Do I need planning permission to install an electric car charger at home
No. As of May 2025, planning permission is no longer required for the vast majority of home EV charger installations in the UK. The government removed this requirement to make switching to electric simpler and faster. There are a small number of exceptions – listed buildings and some conservation areas, so if your property falls into either category, we will confirm this during your free survey before any work begins.

Not always. Most modern properties have a consumer unit that can accommodate an EV charger without any additional work. Older fuse boxes occasionally need upgrading to meet current regulations, but this is something we assess during your survey so there are no surprises. Either way, you will get the same professional installation and the same standard of finish.
